About JSP Scholarship

The Hub's "Junior Scientists Program" (JSP) gives junior scientists with a BSc degree or higher the opportunity to get hands-on experience in research for development in collaborative projects between CGIAR++ centers and German research institutions.
JSP supports junior scientists affiliated to a German universities for a 6 months internship at a CGIAR++ center.
We want to inspire young people for development-oriented agricultural research, to qualify them in this field in an internationally competitive manner and rejuvenate and expand the corresponding professional networks.
The Hub supports you with:
- A scholarship of 6.000€ total for a period of six months
- The opportunity to collect data to complete the Master of Science degree

In order to be eligible for support, junior scientists must fulfill the following requirements:
- Enrolment in a M.Sc. program of agricultural sciences or related degree (e.g. biology, geography, sociology, veterinary medicine, marine biology, forestry, political sciences, law, economics etc.) at a German university or post M.Sc.(not enrolled for a PhD);
- Very good command of the English language. In some countries, knowledge of other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Arabic) may be advantageous or even required;
- High degree of sensitivity towards the culture in the country of assignment; team player; ability to work under pressure; willingness to assume responsibility and to work independently;
- Hosting confirmation from a CGIAR++ center stating that a supervisor has been identified and the research topic is accepted; including the CGIAR++ research program or project that the applicant will be attached to;
- Recommendation by and confirmation from a supervisor of a German university/research institution to support the application and to supervise the research topic;
- Willingness to engulf in at least six months of research abroad;
